Rosa Grand Milano Hotel Review

Recommended for
Families, groups and business travellers.

Not recommended for
Romantic couples and persons sensitive to smoke, dogs or occasional loud noises.

Rosa Grand Milano is your typical modern-style city hotel. It has basically everything you would expect from such a hotel. The hotel is so central, it's almost too central if you are sensitive to smoke or noise. The hotel is not typically romantic and the surroundings are not romantic, which is why we don't recommend Rosa Grand Milano for romantic couples, then there are better hotels.

One somewhat unique feature of Rosa Grand Milano is that it has family suites, most central hotels in Milano only have small rooms making Rosa Grand Milano a good option if you are a family or group. The room standard is top notch. Modern technology, great lighting, great ac/heating, great blackout curtains. While not sound proof, the hotel has done a good job sound-dampening the rooms. Despite this and because of its central location you can occasionally at night hear muted voices, shouts, cleaning machines, other machines. Considering the central location of the hotel, this is somewhat expected.

The Duomo Deluxe Apartments are spacious with two complete bathrooms with bathtubs, showers, bidet and plenty of toiletries. The bathrooms have a very high finish; for example all bathroom fixture are from Hans Grohe. The beds are of high quality, firm without being hard and if you aren't happy with the standard pillows there's a pillow menu to select different pillows from ensuring a good night's sleep. A lot of people in Milan smoke and just outside Rosa Grand Milano there are busy restaurants with a lot of people smoking. Unfortunately occasionally the smoke goes into the corridors and rooms, this might be an issue if you are sensitive to smoke or allergic. The hotel also allows dogs which is good if you have dogs, but might be an issue if you are highly allergic. The room cleaning is excellent, and the hotel also provide a tuck-in service. The rooms did not have iron or ironing boards, but the hotel has an ironing room. For a small fee the hotel offers their own laundry service which were excellent and the shirts came back perfectly pressed. When you arrive you receive Italian welcome snacks and wine. Every day you receive plenty of fresh water.

Because of the immediate proximity to the Duomo, there are large numbers of police and even military in the neighborhood. There's even a police station 100m from the hotel. Because of this, and that there are almost always people in the streets, you never feel unsafe. Apart from the Duomo being just outside, you are walking distance from all the biggest tourist attractions. If you happen to visit during Christmas there's a Christmas market around the Duomo offering plenty of local Italian food etc.

The hotel has a very good gym and a sunroof terrace (unfortunately no pool or bar and basically no city view). Rosa Grand Milano has multiple dining options; you can choose to eat in the more upscale Sfizio restaurant or the more relaxed Roses Pizza & more restaurant. You can also eat in the spacious lobby. One oddity was that when trying to order room service they wanted us to get down to the lobby to pay with credit card or cash, which kind of defeats the purpose of room service. Because of this we opted for the top-rated sandwich bar Cesarino just outside the hotel entrance instead of the room service. The breakfast selection was limited but of high quality. For example eating healthy was not a problem. During the day they refresh with quality snacks in the Gold lounge. Overall the hotel staff were extremely friendly and professional.
